dBZo calibration for dBZ
RVP10 supports separate calibration of both polarization channels. Measurement of dBZo for each channel of a dual-polarization system is identical to the conventional radar case.
For a single-channel switching system, the only difference between the horizontal and vertical signal paths occurs after the high power switch, that is, differential insertion loss of the switch itself and any differential insertion loss of the waveguides and feed after the switch. This means that for single-channel switching systems it may be sufficient to calibrate at one polarization and then adjust the calibration of the other channel by the differential gain GDR. See GDR calibration for Zdr.
